From Vientiane to the
Thai Border
Day 01:
Vientiane
Welcome to Vientiane: The smallest capital in the world
seems to wake up from its "Hundred Years' Sleep"... Its "Arch
of Triumph", temples, busy local shops, colorful little art
galleries which flank some of the main streets give the
capital an exotic mix of "East meets West".
Day 02 and Day 03: Vientiane - Xieng Khouang (Plain of Jars)
Fly to the mystical Plain of Jars - a man-made mystery! No
One can fully explain why several hundred stone jars varying
in size from 500 kilograms to five tons are scattered across
this high, remote plain. there is a disagreement on
everything from their age to their uses. They are up to
2,000 years old and their suggested uses include rice
canister and burial sarcophagi!
Day 4 and Day 5: Luang Prabang
You'll have an app. 7 hours drive to Luang Prabang. Nestled
on the banks of the Mekong River and surrounded by mountains,
Luang Prabang is one of Asia's most beautiful and enchanting
cities. Take in the special feel of this unique town by
wandering around the decaying temples and French colonial
villas and get a deep sense of the country's proud history.
You won't regret your stay and the several excursions
awaiting you!
Day 06: Luang Prabang - Pak Ou Cave - Pakbeng
Sailing upstream on the busy Mekong, visiting Pak Ou cave
housing beautiful Buddha images, passing Ethnic minority
villages along the untamable river will bring you back to
far-away times!
Day 07: Pakbeng - Lao/Thai Border - Chiang Rai
Another enjoyable boat ride will bring you back to Thailand,
where you are back in the 21st century! You drive on a good
road to Chiang Rai for your onward flight to Bangkok - or
why not book a night in a relaxing resort?? Or continue to
Myanmar??
